Milli Vanilli Said it Best

What a sloppy game.  I think Nebraska dropped more interceptions than their receivers actually caught.  Imagine how fun this game could have been to watch if it were on grass/mud.  But, it wasn’t, and we were forced to watch this horrible show of offense.  I’m suprised the Huskers didn’t try to run the ball more early.  Their receivers couldn’t catch, and their punt returners were just horrible so why not just feed the run.  What could it hurt?

I’m not giving much of a breakdown because, frankly, I got bored with this game early.  And with a new episode of Always Sunny on, there were other options.  In fact, I’m  typing this as the 3rd quarter winds down.  And wouldn’t you know, Nebraska just scored.  Now this has become somewhat of a live real-time writing blog.  Since we’re at commercial I’ll talk about Always Sunny.  Not the new one, but the episode they showed after, “Sweet Dee has a Heart Attack“  Might be one of the best episodes ever.  Here’s a little taste:

12-7 missouri… and Finally Nebraska gets a pick.  Probably the toughest of them all to catch.

Touchdown Nebraska.  What a catch there.  Big momentum shift has just happened.  Going for 2 here…aaand a penalty.  You don’t say.  13-12 Nebraska.

What is that nasty looking ice cream shit?

Bo!  BO!  Pay attention, we’re about to call a penalty on missouri and want to know if you want to accept.  Nevermind, Bo.  It’s against Suh.  It’s ok though because Gabby is gonna toss another pick.

And the tide has turned.  Wide open TE.  20-12 Nebraska.  3 TD’s in about 4 minutes.

How ’bout that regional coverage Saturday on ABC?  I’m sure we’ll get Baylor-OU but I’d like to see Wisky-tOSU.

Gabby lost his fanny pack.

What’s the deal tonight with dropping Suh back in coverage so much?  I think missouri is seeing that and making a decision to run the ball.  Weak horse-collar call there.  He didn’t drag him down by the pads.

Nice catch by Jackson.  Initially I thought he went OoB but the refs say no.  Now a review.  ESPN needs to show less of Refs with a headset and more of the reviewed play.  Great catch if it stands.  And it does.

How many pieces of gum does Bo go through in a game?  Discuss.  I’d hate to be on the other end of that headset hearing those horse jaws smack all game.

4th and 6 coming up.  big play… Interference.  Good call.

Holding call on missouri while Gabby throws it away lefty style.  He could be the next Jake Plummer.

I’ve said it once and i’ll say it again, Gabby thows the best “out of the back of the end zone ball” I’ve ever seen.

Turnover on downs.  Stupid Nebraska player gets in Gabby’s face on the sidelines, lucky not to draw a flag.

Sooooo the rain stops and NOW Nebraska figures out how to run?

Helu just broke one and this game is over.

TD Helu.  And the mass missouri exodus begins.  27-12 Nebraska.

After that long pass for the first NU touchdown, missouri folded like an Asian-American laundromat.

Watching this game as a KU fan, neither of these teams scare me.  Neither does Iowa State*

Thanks for reading the OBK pseudo live blog (posted Friday morning but written in real time)

Every time I root for Missouri they disappoint. That game was ugly for Missouri throughout. May be a wake-up call for them that Gabbart isn’t Chase Daniel (yet?). He was telegraphing his passes the whole game- has that been the case all year and the opponents weren’t good enough to act on the tells? Anyway, a team that gets it put to them that bad, at home, in the 4th quarter doesn’t deserve to win so it doesn’t matter what’s better for our road to the Division title. Beat both Nebraska and Missouri and we’ll still likely win the thing.

  2. Granted this was prior to the NU explosion/MU implosion…

I will have to disagree with you though, Neon. Nebraska was not impressive in the least, but with that D-Line (read: Suh) they could absolutely go 6-2 with losses to us and Oklahoma. We’re gonna have to take one from either Tech or OU.

  3. Always Sunny…the new episode last night when Frank was belching in Mac’s face was hilarious.

    “you banged my dead wife?”
“Well, she wasn’t dead at the time.”

  4. “I Got Boxes Full of Pepe!!”

  5. Funny that everyone other than Nub fans realize that Mizzou just shot themselves in the foot and Nebraska had great field position for two TDs. A young team shot themselves in the foot. Both teams looked godawful. Order restored?

Sucks to say it, but it looks like we’ll be rooting for kU over Nebraska.

I feel dirty. I need to shower after saying that.

  6. “You need to calm down. Have another cup of coffee.”

Last night’s episode was good, from what I saw. Which unfortunately wasn’t all of it. How can you go wrong drinking canned wine?

“When was the last time we played night crawlers?”
“What the hell is night crawlers?”
    “This isn’t about you.”

BH, missouri blew it by not capitalizing when they had great field position. So many chances, just couldn’t get it done.

Oh I’m with you that Nebraska is offensively as bad as any team in the Big 12. However, they got through the Missouri line whenever they wanted, especially in the second half. Todd’s obviously better at thinking on his feet than Blaine, but I’m not sure our O Line is even as good as Missouri’s. They certainly have more blue chippers. Missouri also doesn’t have the running game that we do, which obviously makes seeing the jail break in Lawrence unlikely.

We’ll see, but I was impressed by the NU defense last night, though I think it’s obvious Gabbart was telegraphing his read to the DBs. Doubt Todd throws into those kinds of traps…
