Given the recent misery and turmoil surrounding our football program, it’s nice to focus my attention elsewhere. Right now, I’m looking at Ben Howland and UCLA. Expected to be down a bit this year, the Bruins have gotten off to a disastrous 2-4 start on the court (*). And adding insult to injury, due to detrimental conduct, their best post player, Drew Gordon, has left the team in a “mutual parting.”
The two wins: Cal State Bakersfield & Pepperdine
The four losses: Cal State Fullerton (Pauley), Portland (in Anaheim by 27 points), Butler (Anaheim), & long Beach State (Anaheim). Not exactly a muderer’s row.
After taking a week off since the LBSU loss, their next game will be back in Pauley Pavilion against our Jayhawks this Sunday. At one time, this was a forgivable loss. That is no longer the case.
Oh yeah, and have a HAPPY MULLET WEDNESDAY!
Enjoy the game tonight and expect to hear some news from the athletic department today, or at the very latest by tomorrow. You may not hear the second part of that news for about a week, but rest assured that it’s being handled.

It’s a scary thought considering they’re only 1 full season removed from three consecutive Final Fours.

It’s like you’re leading us through a dark room with nothing but a glow stick, when you know where the light switch is.

I’d elaborate if I could, but in the mean time, just don’t buy any of the rumors floating around. No one has been has been decided on yet, but a process is in place and, so far, so good.
Really is insane how far UCLA has fallen in such a short time period. Did we dodge a bullet not landing J’Mison Morgan?

But at this point rumors are all that gets me through this mess.

Maybe the giant vortex of suck that is Rick Neuhiesal is contagious.

Great. Now you’ve got me checking the LJ-World website and message boards every 30 seconds.
And basketball isn’t providing the requisite distraction.
But, to your main point: UCLA is definitely in disarray. I wonder how Howland’s going to pull it together, if he can.

I love how “chorus” is written on the screen at all times during the chorus in that video. Normally whenever I hear a new song, I’m constantly wondering “Is this the chorus? What about now? Now? Now? How about now?” So I found that really helpful.

I found this interesting, but I’m confused by it. I’m not at all suprised that it was a single day record, as KU football attendance has been rising the last few years. I do find the timing confusing though with everything that is going on. I’d think people would be more inclined to wait awhile before committing. Maybe the thought of change is stirring a lot of excitment.

I bought mine Monday too.
What’s not mentioned in that press release is that extra priority points were given for any season ticket orders placed by internet on Monday. Quite a bit extra, in fact (20/ticket before 8am, 15 btw. 8-10am, and 10 extra the rest of the day).
bates: That makes as much sense as anything else. Probably more, actually.

I had a feeling there were extra points given. Makes more sense now.

Saw the Portland and CSF games. UCLA is horrendous. Sucks that some teams scheduled these guys a couple years ago thinking to help the RPI.
