B.M.O.C. 1/25-1/31

Posted by Triston27 on February 7th, 2010 under Basketball

I think it’s pretty obvious who the Big Man On Campus was during the week of January 25th.  You see, someone awoke the sleeping giant.  Hugemistake, Big 12 foes.  Huge mistake.  Teams were having a tough enough time with the Jayhawks when it was just Mc Morris down in the paint, but not our good friend Cole Aldrich has joined in the party.  And it couldn’t have come at a better time, what with 2 hated rivals in back to back games.

Basically, Aldrich stomped out missouri himself.  Yeah, the supporting cast was there and chipped in, but it was Aldrich who absolutely dominated the game to the tune of 12 points, 16 rebounds and 7 blocks.  The tigers were absolutely terrified of coming into the paint because Cole was tossing the basketball right back at them.  He looked like Billy Madison playing against the kindergartners.  I’d love to have Cole mic’d up for a game like that.  Imagine all the ways he’d come up with saying, “Get that weak shit out of here!”

He did the same thing 5 days later against k-state.  Even while in foul trouble he owned things in the paint.  Scoring 18 points, grabbing 11 boards (5 on offense) and throwing back 3 k-state shots.  The really impressive part was that he played the final 5 minutes of regulation and all of OT with 4 fouls.  This took away from dominance but his presence was still felt.

It was a great week for Aldrich, and we all knew he’d win a B.M.O.C. award sooner or later.  What a week to win it.  Check back soon to see who won the award during the ugly week that was Nebraska and Colorado.  the votes are still coming in because nobody was overly impressive.

Past OBK  B.M.O.C. winners:

Marcus Morris   1/11 – 1/17/2010

Sherron Collins 1/18 – 1/24/2010

  1. Obvious choice, but a good one no less.

Between his OT in Boulder and leading us with 20 yesterday, Marcus may be our first 2 time winner. Cole was good in Boulder and Sherron was good yesterday, but Morris probably had the best combination of anyone.

  2. I agree. McMorris is the leading vote getter.

  3. Hiphop–you gonna give us the skinny on tonight’s matchup? and if time allows a post-mortem on Neb? Just enjoy your stuff. Thanks

  4. [...] For some thoughts on Kansas basketball check at our friends at Oread Boom Kings. [...]

  5. Time will not allow for a NU post-mortem, and frankly, I’m not sure our play warranted one. I’m optimistically chalking last week up to tired legs.

I’ll get something up on tonight’s game, though.

  6. Great timing. Can we reschedule tonight’s game for Mid-December of last year?
