4 Cures for the Bye Week Blues

Posted by Neon Boudreaux on October 1st, 2009 under Basketball

If for some reason you're not completely happy with what seems to be a very interesting slate of games elsewhere, as Scipio Tex details over at Barking Carnival, allow me to discuss 4 things that might hit a little closer to home. 1. Hoops We are only two weeks from Late Night in the Phog. Yes only 15 days from that slightly embarrassing but yet utterly awesome tradition that features former McDonald's All-Americans and future

Zach Bolton Commits

Posted by Hiphopopotamus on August 3rd, 2009 under Recruiting

Good news out of Houston today as the nation's 18th ranked offensive guard called Coach Reagan this morning and pledged his commitment to the Jayhawks. Bolton was a first team All-District selection a year ago and recently earned Offensive Line MVP honors at the National Underclassman Combine.  Thanks go out to Jonathon Wilson Via his Rivals page, Bolton lists at 6'2" 265, runs a 4.85 with a 29 inch vertical.

Corey Jones 2010 DE/LB Commits to Kansas

Posted by gingerballs on July 15th, 2009 under Football

Had not seen this posted anywhere else. Good speed and size, definitely the kind of rush end Mangino has been going after recently.  Must be something the big man sees in him to offer him earlier than the others, hopefully keeping him away from Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State in the long run.  At least one Vol is not happy they let him get away. Thanks for the heads up

Every Rose Has its Thorn

Posted by Hiphopopotamus on May 28th, 2009 under Recruiting

In shocking news yesterday, it was reported that the NCAA has accused Memphis of major violations within their 2007-08 season the culminated in a championship game loss to the Kansas Jayhawks.  Specifically, they're claiming that Derrick Rose cheated on the SAT and that $2,260 in free travel was given to a player associate for road games.  For these they're charging "knowing fraudulence and misconduct" and "failure to monitor" for each violation, respectively.  From Calipari:

Couple Quick Links of Interest

First off, I'm not sure if anyone caught this, but Bill Self and staff recently received a commitment from Xavier Henry.  Coming along with Xavier will be his older brother, C.J., who will walk on as the Yankees are required to pay his tuition per his contract out of high school.  Adding the Henry's likely makes the Jayhawks even more formidable than they were already - and they were already a popular pick

Saga to end on Mullet Wednesday

Posted by Hiphopopotamus on April 20th, 2009 under Recruiting

Or so we're led to believe...the Henry's will be making their announcement (without visiting Kentucky) on Wednesday of this week.  Make of that whatever you want.  I'd certainly like to nab Xavier, Lance and even CJ, but with or without any of them, we're in the discussion.  Grab one or more and we'll really carry a 'favorite' tag.   Whatever happens, happens...

Jayhawk Invitational

Posted by Hiphopopotamus on April 9th, 2009 under Basketball

As reported by the Lawrence Journal World today, the annual event is fast-approaching.  Specifically, it will take place in Lawrence from May 1-3.  If you're in or around Lawrence for that weekend, I'd suggest you attempt to carve out some time to watch a few guys play.  The most intriguing participant as of now is Royce Wooldridge, a junior SG out of Phoenix's Sunnyslope High.

A quick recap of yesterday’s action before we get to today’s tilts.

Midwest – Kansas and Northern Iowa take care of business at the top. Tennessee squeaks by San Diego St, and the shocker of the day, Georgetown falls to Ohio. Just a complete no-show by the Hoyas, which we all knew they were capable

I tailed Trips’ over on BYU and under on ND so I ended up more than fine yesterday. I’m not in the mood for humour after last night but I’ll throw up some quick picks in a second.

I knew what you meant with the homer comment.

I agree that it mostly comes down to Denmon and English shooting well again. They don’t have set career highs, but they do have to at least hit their season averages for Mizzou to have a chance.

LB Coach right before we moved over here usmc53 left the below question for you in response to one of your comments. Based on this post I take it the NT is just reading the Center’s head after the snap. I thought he asked a great question though and didn’t want it to

I agree that the Tigers will win.

I am starting to feel progressivley optomistic. Hopefully we can glean some discernable info about how this transition is going during spring practice. Valpodoc, glad to see you are still with us here at the new place. Your comments always add to the quality of the discussion.

Well, here at AT we talk about Chase Daniel coming back to Mizzou to coach QBs and recruit the Dallas area. We haven’t taken it off the table, but not sure it carries much predictive value on our table.

Oklahoma sports media coverage is slanted towards OU? I refuse to believe Dean Blevins would do that.

If we can stop Stephon Marbury from eating the rest of the Vaseline we have a chance.

Peter Graves has more life than my bracket. I pick games like Gary Johnson shoots free throws. Nebraska is better off in the standings than I am in the bracket contest. Get the point? Yesterday was one of

    Barnes’ three “strengths”:

    Defense, rebounding, recruiting.

This team just proved the first two are non-existent (out-rebounded by 25; fucking KIDDING me?) and the last one is over-hyped as well. Every ESPN basketball recruiting analyst who actually had Bradley ahead of Wall should be taken out back and executed Inglourious Basterds style.
